Video: Anglers Catch/Release Small Tiger Shark from Florida Shoreline

Tiger shark caught using casted bait.
Gene Jensen, who primarily fishes fresh water, recently had a surprise when he landed a small tiger shark off the Florida coast. Gene had hooked up with Josh from Black Tip Fishing and was looking to catch tarpon. To do so, Gene and Josh went in search of schooling mullet which is one of the best ways to hone in on tarpon. They spent a considerable amount of time searching up and down the coast but to no avail.

Gene then decided to try his luck with some land-based shark fishing.  He was successful in hoking a shark which he initially believed was a blacktip shark.  To his surprise, when he got the shark to shore, it was a small tiger shark. Josh, who is a long time veteran of shark fishing, stated that it was the first time he had seen a tiger shark caught on casted bait in Florida.

After getting the shark to shore, the two quickly removed the hook.  Gene got his obligatory fish photo and the two returned the shark back to the water.

Video posted by BlacktipH and is nearly 2 1/2 minutes in length.
