Video: Large Shark Eats Smaller Shark at Cherry Grove Pier in South Carolina

Large shark eats smaller shark at Cherry Grove Pier in N. Myrtle Beach, SC
In a "you just can't win" video, a small bonnethead shark hooked by an angler is able to fend off a hungry larger shark.  But, in what initially appears to be a turn of good fortune, the little guy's luck runs out when the angler's line breaks.

An angler fishing at the Cherry Grove Pier in North Myrtle Beach, SC catches a small bonnet head shark.  As he pulls it to the surface, a much larger shark attempts to take the bonnethead (9 second mark).  The bonnet head shark appears to elude the larger shark and is then again pulled to the surface by the angler. The angler does not retrieve the bonnethead and instead allows it to perilously splash around on the surface.

At the 0:23 mark, the larger shark again has a go at the bonnethead and misses.  This time the crowd of pier onlookers spot the much larger shark and collectively let out gasps.  At this point, the angler begins to reel the bonnethead towards the top of the pier.

Just as the bonnethead is within the reach of the angler, it shakes violently and is able to break free (0:50 mark).  Unfortunately, the shark's apparent freedom is short lived.  Withing seconds of hitting the water and more than likely being stunned from the fall, the larger shark makes a clean grab of the bonnethead and swims off.  No happy ending here.
