Two Men Suffer Minor Shark Bites in Florida Within Seconds of Each Other

Two men, who were approximately 100 yards from each other, suffered minor shark bites while in knee deep water off New Smyrna Beach on Saturday, September 7th, 2013.

Reportedly, the bites occurred within a minute of each other and both victims reported the shark as being about 3 feet in length but it is unknown if it was the same shark responsible for both bites.

Both victims made their own way to the hospital and were treated.  The one victim, a 25-year-old, was bitten in the shin and the other, a 43-year-old, was bitten on the foot.

Lifeguards began flying the purple flag warning beachgoers of sharks in the area.
