The female was bitten in in her upper torso while swimming in murky waters 10 feet deep approximately 30 feet off the shore at Ulua Beach Park.

The woman was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center with undisclosed injuries and she underwent surgery.

Beaches in the area have been closed by authorities and they will access the situation on Thursday to determine if they should be reopened.
